The way I read it, these are only for the 'new' certifications, MCTS, MCITP, MCPD and not for the existing certs.
There's not much danger of many people needing them as it looks like most are still being beta'd.

    Correct me if I'm wrong...

Considering they are calling one of their own certifications 'Microsoft Learning IT Professional' I wouldn't put it past them to make a few other typos.

well well. all ye naysayers can kiss my freshly scrubbed arse. :D

i just confirmed with prometric that the mcp exams (i.e. all the mcsa/e/dst/etc) are indeed covered by this 'second retake' initiative.

I had an email from Pearson last night advertising the offer and it does appear to be for all MCPs.
The Microsoft release just doens't explain it very well.
    Who'd have thought it?

    Yes, you can use either.

It's one of the reasons I stopped using prometric though.
they can be blooming obstuctive. Make sure you really hammer home that you want to use the second shot. I failed an exam once (honest) and it was with prometic. I went to take a second shot and they refused to let me have it because the promo code hadn't been entered on the original booking.
    They wouldn't budge.
For god's sake, it doesn't cost them anything - and do they really think that someone wouldn't register during a promotion?

    I haven't used them since.

    WOW !!!

I'm so glad!!! I'm glad, I'm glad (is there an oldie remembering Cream?) :)

I'mo so happy with this 'free second shot'... so happy...

I need to do the 20-272 for my mcdst cert.

I registered for a possible free second test (just in case..you know.. :dry )
And I really feel confident now.

I realize that I could have been elegible for this even for my first test, lucky me I did'n need it

    :D

Syd, don't forget that you need to take the first exam before the end of June. If you (somehow) don't manage to pass that one then the second shot offer exam before the end of July.

    Thanks Nugget.

I'm planning to be an MCDST in a couple of weeks.
But this chance really makes me feel good and relaxed :biggrin

I know that there's a lot of people which found 272 harder than 271... well...this is something really hard to understand for me.

It wasn't easy 271 for me but, after having a look, I think 272 will be.

I already passed the simulated Self Test. That's maybe because I am a MOS ?
I don't know...but it really sounds weird to me that people is finding 272 harder, really weird.

It all comes down to experience. For example there are some members that are total hardware cracks who know every piece of a pc for the last 15 years that know only the basics of the os side of things and really have a hard time with the A+ OS exam. And of course the reverse is also true.

If you've had more experience with troubleshooting office and os problems in the office rather than putting together pc's and networks then you will more than likely find that side of things easier.

Good luck with the exam. :thumbleft

    That's my case.

I am really relaxed now :)

but 271 it's been though to me, I never worked in a domain previously so... but troubleshooting applications and the OS..

    No problemo

    :)

and there's also the second chance!! :ohmy

    Piece of cake! :biggrin

I have all the intentions to continue for the MCSA (that will be a big challange for someone like me I suppose  )

im finding 271 easy, but because i have done 270 and 290 in the last few months. 272 i think will be a little different but not too hard as its things i do on a daily basis for users. thats how it should be, certs should just be pieces of paper saying i know what im doing because i have been doing it for a while! 8)

why? :blink i was no different than you this time last year..
