We've got some CV links on this forum so I thought I'd post this link as I've just stumbled across it:

That's cool.

However, most of the people here seem to be trying to find an IT job, I don't think anyone's complaining about not being able to resign from one - not for the first six months anyway...

I think it's more in the spirit of resigning from your current job because you've gotten one in IT.

having recently written one of these
it wasnt that hard, it was 3 lines, and brutally honest,
we also have whats called 'exit interviews' with the hr manager, another example of brutal honest was that she wrote in my comments field 'xxx is weak/gutless, unable to make decisions, always escalating problems to avoid responsiblity' (these were my words about my managers manager)
its the second interview in as many weeks she has conducted for IT leavers, giving almost identical reasoning

Sorry, good point.

I used to love getting letters of resignation, unless it was clear that the person was resigning because they had found a job that was better than yours.
My only advice would be not to put too much effort into it.
Job applications can be dull to go through, but resignations are even duller.
I've seen epics written with well informed comments on where the company could improve staff welfare, which are summarised by 'Oi, Jonny, that t055er Dave has resigned' before being shoved into the personnel folder.
I know it's not right and I don't know how we're ever going to move forward.

The best resignation I ever had was written by hand on a piece of notepaper. It simply read 'F**k off'.
That's all you need to know really.
Actually, now I think about it, I'm sure it was a letter of resignation. Maybe I should have checked before filling in the rest of the paperwork...

Oops while reading thise thread my incredibly nosey 'team member' who is very pally with management looked over my shoulder and saw the title of this topic.

She asked me in a 'you're sooooo busted' tone of voice why I would be looking at such a thread (let alone starting one)......

Better start looking...

Ouch...

There are of course times when a letter of resignation is surplus to requirements...

LOL. That's about the biggest put down I've ever heard. Calling your boss a user.... That's about as bad a name as an IT guy can call someone....

I'll have to remember that one. When I'm really torqued I'll just call whoever it was that got my goat a user.... Sure hope they realize how low down that is....
