thats why I'm doing the CCNA with the OU and following it up witha course in digital communications.

My long term plans are twofold - increased knowledge of networking and personal development in the area of people and management skills

i thought that the it market in england was flooded,
right my best advice is to pull out all those cisco books that have been eating dust on the shelves and start reading them so that you can get this cisco cert.

right now wheredid i put my cisco books.... :hhhmmm

I've been looking at the CCVP (voice over IP/IPT) cert. It doesn't look easy, but nothing worthwhile ever is.

VoIP/IPT is replacing traditional phone networks for businesses. My work has already converged our network.

Wireless and security seem to be 'hot' and look to stay that way for some time.

 

Wireless is something i been stressing is hot and i think will go even hotter!

Is CWNA still THE cert for wireless?

 

The company I work for has marketed their own voice over IP system using Cisco 2700 series (I think) routers. Complicated would be an understatement. There's only 4 techs (out of 45) who can troubleshoot these setups. I've noticed there have been numerous ads here where I live looking for voice over IP techs.

 

my new role will envolve a hell of a lot of cross training to voip and convergance
the company recently lost its two cisco bods, and i have been selected to replace them (they sure have high hopes, lol) they are aware i dont have many voip skills, but my passion and interest led them to believe i have what it takes, one of my first major projects will be to assist in the roll out of a voip system to a multinational with over 50 sites worldwide

convergance is the way, and i love it
voip, iscsi, it all converges disperate networks and makes the network a more valuable than ever before!

thing is though, what these guys will want is experience, not certs...

no good having certs at that level without experience...
