Well you already posted in this thread http://www.certforums.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=40966 that you were 14years and 2 months, and your profile above shows 14 years - not much guess work involved tbh.

Congratulations, no idea if you are the youngest or why it would matter but keep it up and good on you for being this dedicated at such a young age.

While I think what you have achieved is great (attaining certification is something any individual should be proud of), I really think you should put things into perspective.

At the moment the fact you are 14 and hold these certifications is pretty unique, however, in four years time your going to be 18 and likely to be entering the employment market full time. It is at this point you will find out just how good you are - when you are competing for a position against many other qualified and experienced people.

What I am trying to say is congratulations on your achievements, you should be really proud of yourself but stop highlighting your age to everyone - if you are as good as you say you are it really is a non-issue!

 

Obsessing about your age is something you grow out of.

To be honest, I'd stop banging on about how young you are.
While it may well be an achievement from your point of view, it isn't really something that is going to give you professional distinction in the real world. If people are going to want to hire a trainer 'youngest' isn't going to be one of the criteria they are looking for.

And if they are, I'd suggest that you don't offer to run any training sessions for them.

 

I have an idea for you... how about you just enjoy being a kid instead of trying to be an adult (you will have a long time trying pretending to be a kid when you're older). You have nothing to prove to anyone at the moment, what you should be doing is enjoying the innocense of youth and just having fun, getting certified like this?? waste of your precious childhood in my opinion (and certainly not worthy of admiration from people 10+ years older than yourself because trust me there won't be a lot of it, it's a novelty factor at the moment but when you actually try to 'teach' people who have years more commercial experience than yourself you will suddenly find it a lot more difficult to hold the attention of the class).

A good instructor is actually someone who can call upon years of commercial experience to backup their knowledge with instead of just spouting from the book of certification.

Actually, my mom bought my first 2 exam voucher on ebay when I tried to take the excel exam. I actually failed both, then my mom found a video for sale on ebay, I bought it and watched it and then finally passed it. Then I found I really like it, so I took more. I did pass MCTS- Vista, which gives me the MCP certicate also.

I wanted to finish most of the exams before I started high school because I know I will be so busy with school. US does require minor to get work permit so I did get work permit and that limited my working hours during school time. But I really like teaching so hopefully, I can teach more classes soon.

 

[Actually, I did forget that everyone can look at my profile age. However, I thought if you read the CompTIA Forums, you will be proud of the fact that CompTIA does not discriminate on age. (as if you know it is a pretty difficult exam and tough performance evaluation) In my schools, other than 2 family friends, no one knows my certificates, and I am a normal 14 year old in a public high school, attending marching band and have friends at my age.

I posted the videos so if you feel I am only a paper MCP, you can see that I did earn my CTT+ as a fair game.

I thought my experience would be inspiring to others so if they do not have $ to go to college, they can create their own career path with very limited investment.

After I passed my first certificate, we realized this can be a way for poor teenager to take control of their future. We started a non-profit organization 2self.org and we started going to a group home (orphanage) and tutoring teenagers Microsoft Word. We used our own money to buy them Chrismas gifts and spent Thanksgiving and Christmas with them. My mom loaned the group home our laptop so they can learn. We took the laptop back after 1 kid stole it and tried to sell in school, and we stopped going after the group home closed when their landlord lost the home to foreclosure. To continue our mission, we got the support of NR Computer learning center who agreed to host free classes to people in need. That's when I taught my first 3 free PowerPoint classes. They are now teaching Free Excel.

Why do I need to confirm if I am the youngest MCT and CTT+, because if I can confirm that, it will be very inspiring to the people I tried to help.

And why do I tried to be an adult at age 14? How many of you, the real, truly qualified IT Professionals would spend precious weekend working for free. If I wait another 4 years, how many people I could have helped would be deprived of that chance to learn?

I work for $10/hour on Sat. as a front desk receptionist at a dental office. When you send your kids to summer camp or dance lessons, I chose to work and earn my paycheck. My family and I believe that is the best education a 14 year can get. ( I do still take my piano lesson) I have worked for 5 months now and I still have a job. I guess that means I took my job seriously and did OK. (I actually use Excel a lot at work)

I do not mind your Criticism. Don't think I am challenging you with my age. Think I am challenging you so you can do something to help people around you. I know very little in IT. But I decided to use my certificate and my age to make a difference to people's lives. If you are looking at this thread, you must know IT 100 times better than me. Have you thought of sharing what you know with a person who need help? Guide a troubled youth to a right career path? Donate your old PC to charity? Don’t you agree computer skills is the easiest to learn and does not really require degree? I shared my experience and encourage people to take the exam and to share their experience with others. In 1 year, I had 2 students achieved Microsoft Office Master status, and one of them already helped another of his friend to become MOS certified at age 13.

Help can be in any form.

 

What's this "Am I the youngest..." all about?

Fair play to you for doing what you do but all that: "Hey look at me!!! I'm only 14 and I'm certified and in theory more qualified that some of you on this forums. Hey look at me!!!! Am I the youngest? Am I the best? etc" is completely unnecessary.

This is my impression of 2 threads you have started. You could have easily posted: Hey I'm a certified trainer sort of stuff and mention that you're only 14 (or not even that as it's in your profile). Modesty is a skill too, you know?

In all seriousness, everything that you have done sounds very impressive and I respect you for getting up and doing something with your life. Well done.

But you don't need certificates to help others. It's commendable that you have ambition, but I just think you're slightly off track with it. You should be doing a girl guides community service award or something.

I've watched your videos and they are quite impressive - but they (as do your posts here) make you look like what you are - a child trying to fit themselves into an adult world.

Please, please, don't take this the wrong way. Your skills are good, your ambition is good, but slow down.

It's a bit like saying 'Am I the youngest ever President of the United States at 14?' It's a great achievement, but is it really what you, or anyone else needs right now?

Well done Kid, sounds like your doing great! I for one respect what your doing although think you need some direction! When i was 14 i didn't even know what career I would choose! What is your future ambition and perhaps we can help advise you? What do you want to be doing in 10 years??
