Okay guys, it flies around, but it's THAT time of year again!

    So, how did you do?

I did have a fruitful year, but most of my 'to do' list got kyboshed for one reason or another. Just one more reason to make sure that 2010 goes a little better, eh?

    Things I did achieve were:

move into new place (and a lovely little place in the country it is too)
    got a new car
    still here
not got a wedding date set, but have narrowed down the list to three potential venues :dry

Things I weren't banking on achieving (but was delighted to do so) were:

    SMod :biggrin
Joining my local BCS branch committee, and being co-opted as the YPG Rep for Birmingham

And so, goals for 2010 are:

    Career-Related

Heads down, look in - a pay rise and a promotion
Do a Project Management cert of some variety
Start getting my head around the technologies I'm starting to focus on at the moment (Citrix, Exchange 2K7, Server 2K8 ) - might involving getting a few certs, might not, we'll see

    Quasi-Career-Related

It's my first level 2 (counts towards my classification) degree course in 2010, so I'm sure-as-damn getting good marks for it
Get IEng accredited with the IET
Elevate the BCS - especially the YPG element - within Birmingham schools and businesses

    Not Career Related At All

    Set a wedding date
Lose weight (11st is my ideal (and healthy) weight)
    Finish my book (honest)
    Pay off last major debts

Well last time round I said :

    Get a job
    Get a job
    Get a job

    MCSA/MCSE
    70-632 Project 2007

Maybe look at CCNA or PRINCE2

Oh and get a job !

It's been a funny old year and still without a job. Still I am doing a PTLLS course which finishes on 1st Dec and started an MSc in Business Information Technology

    For 2010 :

    The usual - get a job !

Have shelved the MS certs for the moment - just can't seem to get into them

Need to get head down following my CCNA course with CommSupport and just get the damned exam out of the way

Looking at ISEB Foundation certs in a variety of areas. Want to get any that overlap with MSc done and out of the way

If I can get some teaching/training work (need 30 hours) then will do CTLLS course

    Possibly PRINCE2 Foundation too

and carry on with the MSc

    Oh, and get a job ! :p

My main goals last year where to get the house rennovations completed. Im still not 100% completed (time and money issues) so far ive got:
    New roof and guttering
    Conservatory and replacement double glazing
    Loft completed for storage
    Fitted new kitchen
16ft x 12ft shed in garden with electrics
    New central heating
    New electrics
and loads of other small bits and pieces
    :D

Havent done any studying this year :(

A few things ive done that i never planned are:
Getting back into the cycling and loosing 3 stone (42lb to you BM) :) Still doing 80+ miles per week in this weather. Im now a healthy 11.5 stone
Soon to be changing to an actual BT contract instead of being outsourced to another company.
Havent had a donner kebab in ages (they still hold a special place in my heart though lol).

Goals for next year are to:

Complete the house (money permitting), its all cosmetic stuff now so mainly decorating, tiling, laying flooring etc. I hate decorating though so its gonna be tough :)
Maybe look into completing my N+ once the house is sorted
Get back into the gym and get ripped again (another thing that i just dont have the time for ATM)

I didn't have any goals up or here for '09 but heres the 2010 ones!
    • Get a house
    • Get involved with my local BCS branch
    • New job (there is zero chance of promotion where I am at the moment, because there is nowhere to be promoted to)
    • MCDST
    • MCSA
    • a.n.other course/cert of some description, haven't decided what yet.
    • Get to grips with Java (our new website is going to be built in it so prime learning opportunity)
    • rebuild 2 websites (the local ladies football team and my own side project)
Oh and I'd quite like to do a hell of a lot more writing as well.

Assuming I'm not living in a cardboard box and I manage to finish my MCDST and build a new computer before the end of the year*...

    1) Find a full-time job, preferably in IT but a call centre would do since most entry level jobs I see are looking for 6 months call centre experience. Doing this before my savings run dry is a priority.
    2) Probably do some Vista certs, maybe ITIL v3 foundation and start messing around with servers in a home lab
    3) I think that's enough to be going on with.

    * There's still over 10% of the year left. Ask me again in a month.

    My Goals for 2010 are;

    Comptia A+
    Comptia N+
    MCP
    MCDST

Get a full time job In IT as close to the networking side or anything In IT if need be.

Join my local BCS and then I can also meet Darkstar aswell :p

I don't think I have forgot anything... oh yeah and GET A JOB IN IT aswell!...

I wouldn't see any point in having completed a MCSA before I have any work experience from what Ive learned on here so I would postpone that until I do have work experience

Also I would love a new car aswell! as mine is beggining to sound a bit worn out...

Bring on the NEW YEAR! :D

    Man, my aims

    Workwise
Finally get an A+ Certification, I have everything to do it. Resources/stuff to take apart but I think now I might aswell wait until the new certification (which will be a bit more familiar to me).
Maybe the N+ and then onto the MCSA (I use Server 2003 at work)

    Other
    Get a digital SLR
Do some more websites to earn a bit of cash
Carry on my push bike racing and get a win! (I can only take coming 2nd or 3rd a few more times.)

Are you aware that you have this listed down as a certification you already have? :blink
Or I'm thinking you might have it completed for Windows XP/Vista and you want to update to Windows 7 maybe...

The price you pay for the updated exam and certification when its still so new would it be worth the money?, I imagine there would be a very very small percentage of employers requiring you have an advanced amount of knowledge with Windows 7 or are you looking to gain the knowledge just for the sake of gaining the knowledge?
