After using a few great firefox extensions at work and pretty much getting to to behave like Opera, i wanted to share them with you guys and figured a thread would be great! we can list and share our fave firefox extensions, and build up a catalog of the greats

Scrapbook 0.13.3
http://amb.vis.ne.jp/mozilla/scrapbook/

Gmail Notifier 0.4
http://www.nexgenmedia.net/extensions/

Forecast Fox 0.5.1

Tab Browser Preferences 1.2.2
http://www.pryan.org/mozilla/site/TheOneKEA/tabprefs/

im currently using session saver too. the only downside to it, is that id kinda like it to reload the pages when i close and reopen, as opposed to showing the exact page i had open before (so for certforums, it update the recent articles, etc).

i also use:

View Cookies
not bad - dont use it a great deal, but handy to have sometimes!

Delicious Delicacies
Absolutley useless, but slightly humourous,

Minimise to Tray
really quite handy, i like my browser to not take up space on the taskbar when im not using it!

Focus Last Selected Tab (FLST)
Brilliant extension. the name says it all. although it does also come with an option to have a tab slideshow!

ChromEdit
Provides a utility to manage and edit the configuration files!

Reload Every
Allows you to make the page reload every so many seconds. handy if a page is refusing to load. the only downside to it, is that the marker showing you what value you have selected doesnt seem to work!

Teak Network Settings
Not bad, havent really noticed a great deal of change in loading times with this on broadband though, and you can manually alter these settings in the config files - if you know what ure doing!

Paste and Go
not bad - saves pasting a url into the address bar and then having to hit enter or click go!

and finally:
Keyconfig
allows you to alter the key bindings of the program (i wanted new tab to be CTRL + N)

I'll also leave you with a useful tip: you can force firefox to open a link which is set to open in a new window in a new tab. apparently there are some bugs with this, so they disabled it in the final release. but i havent had any problems with it so far. to do this:

1. enter about:config into the address bar.
2. Find browser.tabs.showSingleWindowModePrefs
3. Set the value to true
This will switch on the option in the options menu (Tools>Options>Advanced>Tabbed Browsing!)

Is there a spell checker for Firefox coz you may have noticed that spelling is not perhaps my strongest point

Sorry if I'm being blonde, but is there an easy way to click the "New Tab" button, and have it open in your homepage ?

yes, use the above mentioned 'Tabbed browsing preferences' extension
this allows you to set all new tabs to load the homepage

Bloody hell !!! Now that I have broadband at last, I thought I'd try the advice I posted on Post #3 of this Thread.

2 min to make the changes, and the difference is awesome - long live the Fox !!!

I just did it too. What said.

Lucky for me I had done some speed tests earlier

Download
Datenrate 644 kBit/s 644 kBit/s 645 kBit/s Upload
Datenrate 104 kBit/s 104 kBit/s 104 kBit/s Antwortzeit 15 ms 15 ms 20 ms
I made the changes and the difference is amazing. I tested again, the rates are the same but CF loads about 4 times quicker.

Do, you think it would have any good/bad effects with an ISDN connection?

I have also downloaded the spellbound add-on and re-started but I can't see how to use it either

Pete

For some reason, I had to re-install the spellbound extension and the other related stuff as it didn't work the first time, but it seems to work now

Pete

Excellent Jak, just what I was looking for!
