I sign up my organisation (which is a secondary/high school) for it and received 200 codes last week, however:

Quote:
You will be required show proof of your student status with an accredited academic institution (e.g.: student ID card) and a print out (screen shot) of your voucher code number generated from DreamSpark upon arrival to take the exam at the testing center.
However any of our students who are interested in this are more than welcome

The voucher is for a MCTS exam but I wouldn't know what to go for. I'm trying to get into security if anyone can point me in the right direction? Has anyone done Exam 70-653:

Good luck with that one, you may want to see this post as Modey (Dom) is also studying for the ISA exam.

I'd have thought you are probably best off with non MS certs for security work.

Theres always this for those interested in how some exploits work :-

http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en...ms/70-660.aspx

When most people on here say security they tend to mean network security and RBAC etc.

Here are the MCSE security electives.

Exam 70-299
Exam 70-2272
Exam 70-350
Exam 70-351

Only 351 is a TS exam.

Wow thanks Ken and Dmarsh! Liked the info on reading materials Ken, Cheers.

Dmarsh: Thanks for listing the electives mate, appreciate that. I've got 299 booked but didn't really have a clue after that. After everything I've found I think your absolutely right, I would be better off getting specific Security quals to get into the Security field, CISSP and CEH but when I read into it, to get where I want to be, an infrastructure penetration tester, they want you to be pretty much an administrator before you can even dabble with the exploits. Me not being one to shy away from a challenge decided (in my infinite wisdom (joke)) to get myself MSCE certified then crack on with a CEH then CISSP. Ambitious but then thats me ha ha

This forum is seriously great for asking qustions though. Love it. Thanks

Don't forget about the Security+ which is not only a vendor neutral cert, but can be applied towards the MCSA/MCSE. Plus I've posted some CISSP training here.

Just seen that post then, thanks very much Ken, your ace. This is a good day for me. I'm off studying my 291 materials, I get guidance on what courses to do next, get a free 70-351 exam! And free video's on security! Sorry to carry on, its just that FREE is my favourite price! ha ha
