Hi Newbie here!
Hi

My name is Ruth and I've just decided I need to re-train for a new career. Ok I've not JUST decided I made the decision on Thursday!

I love messing around on the computer - my husband often asks me what I've been doing and I can't actually give him an answer that sounds like I've been doing something important!!

I work full time as a general administrator, basically this is answering the phone, filing and purchase ledger.

I realise now that when I was at school I should've done something to get into computers but I found school was a bit on the easy side so I never put that much effort into it (regret it now!).

I've joined this forum in order to get some advice from real people!!

Hi Welcome

Have you thought about getting some certifications aimed at entry level IT jobs such as: compTIA A+, compTIA N+ and the MCDST.

If your confident in messing around without any guidance you could self study so there is no need to splash out the cash on an expensive course.

You could go for the A+ first and the best books for this are compTIA A+ all in one exam guide 6th edition by Mike Meyers and PC Technician Street Smarts by James Pyles.
