Morning everyone went to start pc (Shuttle X)
only got as far as telling me what main processor i have and went no further frozen at that point, Im thinking its proberley that the motherboard has failed, just wondered what you thoughts were before i change the motherboard.
cheers Martin
The usual rule is to take out any extra cards (although there isn't much room in a Shuttle for cards!) and disconnect all the drives. Then reboot and see if it will get as far as the BIOS screen.
This can eliminate such things as a failed hard drive locking the bus.

Hi Harry no cards were installed as you say there is'nt much room in there anyway
disconnected the drives have rebooted and can now get into the bios screen
now what or does that confirm motherboard failer
I had an issue last year, where I was getting random reboots and graphical errors when playing games. I was quite convinced as were a few people on here that it was my graphics card (either the drivers or card itself) or cooling after putting in a new card and extra fans I was still getting the same thing.
Next I moved on to the PSU and tested it with a multimeter and I had a big drop on one of the 12v rails, so I replaced the PSU and never had an issue since.
Testing one device at a time is a good thing to do.
Ok will do there is only three floppy and cd ond hard drive so should'nt take long
I think your turning me into a geek quite enjoying this talk soon Martin
Hello Harry told you it wouldnt take long, good job i didnt go ahead with the motherboard idear
re-connected one at a time as you sugested, must have been a loose connection because its booted up fine. I thank you and so does our financial director.
