Hi and welcome to CF!

Why do you need the qualifications? I have been in computers for a similar length of time without any quals or certs. It was the experience that got me jobs every time.

Recently I thought it might be interesting to get a few certs, but my employer never asked for this, and doesn't seem to care now that I have them!

Harry.

surely your experience counts just as much as qualifications! seeing as you have been in the industry for 25 years!

I agree with Harry on this. You don't need to get certs while looking for a job.
I only had an expired CCNA (not even listed in resume) when I started looking. I only recently got my CCNA (again) but it was out of self-interest. The company never cared, and still doesn't.

I'll do my CCNP, but it not for advancement reasons within the company, and my manager doesn't push it or even want it (although he encouraging if one is committed).

My experience is what get's me noticed. Although I'm sure having more paper behind the experience will help too.
