what experience do you have? have you got any other certs?

The best books for MCDST are the MS press books.

Make sure to read lot of the technet white papers if you can. Don't rely only on the Microsoft press book though unless you have lot of desktop support experience.

I passed the 271 by studying for the 270, it was an accident but it worked for me. I don't know if it was a fluke or not.
You probably shouldn't try it.
If you can afford the CBTNuggets videos I would go for those. Especially if you hate reading like I do.
You can slow the videos down, rewind, and pause, while taking notes.

Like Methodman said, the CBT nuggets are a great respite from all the reading that you have to do

Hi, thx for ur advice & tips on getting started. Any idea where I can hold of some test papers? I've registered with some agencies in the hope of getting a job so I can get some practice in while studying but its looking kind of difficult since I dont drive.

if you mean practice exams, have a look at transcender, preplogic and if Boson have any have a look at theirs.

Free one are usually crap and are usually braindumps (cheating exams) so stay away from them.
