cant log on to a domain

I set up server03 and a cleint ok on a friend pc ok and could log in to the server ok. But because it was my 1st experience of using virtual pcs or even networking I stumbled my way through.

Now I have tried to re-create the same thing on this pc but the client wont allow me to log on to the server.

wont even get as far as showing the username and password screen, just doesnt see the server at all .
no firewalls in place.

any ideas

thanks

Have you added the PC to the domain yet?

Can you log onto the PC? If so can you ping the server by IP address?

Me: You need to buy a couple of servers.
Customer: Whats wrong with the servers I have?
Me: Well, you dont have *any* servers just now.
Customer: WTF! I thought I did!

When you run dcpromo it will prompt you to install DNS at the last step.

Are you configuring the server on a virtual machine or do you have a real computer with cables and things?

Same question for the client?

What virtual software are you using?
