Warning: not all Microsoft exams will give you the MCP designation. For example, MCTS and MCITP exams do NOT make you an MCP.
Passing one of the MCDST exams will grant you the MCP designation. So, the answer to the original poster's question is: "Yes, having the MCDST makes you an MCP."
Probably best to have MCP on your CV so it gets past the HR peeps. Having MCTS on your CV might get a WTF just now.
