Master Class 01 : Preperation

Please could you do the following in preperation for the Fedora Core Masterclass

Verify you have CDs 1 - 2 of Fedora Core 1 (1 - 3 is optional)
Verify you have a working VM Virtual Machine, settings are as follows

VM Type: Typical
Guest OS: Linux -> Red Hat Linux
VM Name: Masterclass 01 (FC2)
VM Path: user defined
Networking: Use Bridged
Disk Config: Default (4.0GB)

Please boot into this VM with the Fedora Core CD1 inserted
Press enter at the prompt to enter the installation

Please check both (or all three) CDs with this tool, then shut down

this is just to check the CDs are not faulty so that we will have no hiccups in the installation

remember this is just the preperation

Just done this and my second disk has errors, re burnt the disk and same again. Seems I'll have to redownload the iso (bummer).

BTW, whats the plans for starting this?

Si, check the ISOs MD5 value, do a search for windows MD5 checkers, linux has a built in one

also check the second CD by mounting the ISO to VMWare rather than just burning it and trying
im checking to see if my new ISO reports errors (my old one did and im sur eit was a perfect MD5 ISO) if it does I ahve found a way to get it working through the install as only certain files seem effected

could I get a show of hands who has completed preperation? im awaiting for a few of us to get to that point before i start, id like a few people to run with it live so we can solve probs together and it means i wont be the only one able to help people who follow on at a later point

Currently im guaging the following

Nugget - Hardware Issues
SiFor - Media Issues (Soon to be resolved)
Flex22 - Unknown Status
AJ - Not sure if he is participating

Phoenix - Ready to rumble!

Sorry i've been a bit slow getting this off the ground, i've been a bit bogged down learning visa requirements and such to get filed before i return home to the UK
its a 4 - 8 month process and messing it up will only increase that :/
(i have to file about 8 federal forms, 4 photos, affidavits of support, etc etc, and thats just to get into the country next time, LOL)

Hey Phoenix, I don't think anyone will be gunning for you when you have such important matters to deal with. Only thing I'd maybe suggest is you drop in a wee indication of when you reckon the next stage will begin, just so the Guys who are taking part have a rough idea, m8.

I've only downlaoded one CD so far.

My CD/RW's are all screwed, only one worked.Will have to go out and buy some more when I egt the chance.

Do you need both CD's at the install, or can you install CD 1 and come back to 2 later?
I suppose I could with the suspend feature in VMWare.

That way i could resuse the same CD.
