70-622

Well... the time has come... I have been studying for the 70-622, using this and this. In addition, I paid approx £25 for the ex sim for the 622 from ExamForce.

The Sybex book is a major disappointment. It isn't fluid and, as a consequence, is difficult to read. The MS book appears to be much better but, given I only took delivery of it a few days ago, it is a lot to take in.

The ExamForce ex sim was purchased off the back of a cold call from the company. They were trying to sign me up to a years training, to include MCSE. I politely told them No, but mentioned I was going for the 622. They initially offered it to me for just shy of $100, but dropped that to $50 a bit later. I then took them up on the offer... I downloaded the sim, and tried it out.
Second question I looked at was way wrong (bog standard Vista stuff too). I let them know, but they didn't get back to confirm I was correct for a couple of days. Given the tight timescale, plus I was then nervous of the quality of the software (they are kosher... I checked on Certguard first), I haven't touched the sim since.

I take the exam at 11:00am on Friday morning. I hope I pass, but I have put in for the second shot offer just in case...

I'll let you know how I get on.

Edit: Forgot to mention... I am finding lots of useful info on MS just by 'googling'... never knew you could find so much out just by typing in what you wanted to know. Oh, and I have re-read the pertinent chapters of the Sybex 620 book.

Reckon it'll come down to a 5:50 choice on a fair few of the questions, especially if there are any questions on GPOs...

Thanks mate... I will need it with this one.

At least I managed to get a copy of Vista Business with work (all kosher), and I have been able to spend a few days playing around with it.

Did the exam this morning... got there early, as I had hardly gotten any sleep the night before.

I have to say that I have been completely stressed , working my buns off for the last few weeks, trying to get to grips with AD, GPOs, LGPOs, installs, etc, etc... hence not being on CF as much as I would have liked. In all honesty, I put too much pressure on myself to learn so much in such a short space of time, and the way I have approached this is not something I would recommend to anyone else... unless you're a masochist

Needless to say that, in future, I plan to take things at a more laid-back pace.

Oh, I passed... not sure what I am (no comments please), but I am an MCITP.

PS: My best mate drove me to the test centre (he took the day off work... now that is what I call a best mate! )

PPS: As a source of information, Microsoft (bless it!!!) was invaluable. I would not have passed without it... FACT.

PPPS: Michael/Josh, look forward to seeing the 622 (I hope) in the not to distant future.

Giddy wtg! Sounds like you had a rough go it. Glad you passed though, now take the weekend for yourself if you can and unwind. Heres a VB on me.

Heh heh... thanks Mitz.

Looks like I may be busy... my wife has been talking to a mate of hers, who wants help buying a laptop and printer, plus setting up wireless Broadband... no rest for the wicked...

I think it's her payback for the evenings/nights I have spent locked away learning all the stuff...

I think you better give that lady of your a special night out or in, just to show her how much you appreciate her support.
