Hiding GAL in OWA in Exchange 2007

Another Exchange 2007 query folks!!

I am trying to hide the Global address List from OWA clients connecting to exchange 2007. The scenario is that it is a school and they dont want the students to view the entire GAL. I was trying to set up custom address lists for staff etc. Is OWa viewing the GAL or offline address lists? Anyone any ideas how I could do this?

Many thanks.

If using OWA, you need to modify the msExchQueryBaseDN in ADSIEdit. However, I'm not aware of a way to do this that doesn't involve manually editing the properites of each user, so it may take you a while. I'm sure it could be scripted, but have never tried to do it, so couldn't help you there.

There are 1500 users so that could take a long time. I suppose the other option is to hide all users from the GAL. That must be do-able from the command shell.
