Hi (I am new to the forum).
Have any members trained with www.time4training.com . They appear to have a good offer on with home study, but I don't want to throw my money away if its rubbish. Thanks

At first glance, the A+ is the only "real" cert they offer so I wouldn't bother.

Also, this is quoted from the page on their Dreamweaver course:
As their site looks like it was banged up on Frontpage in about five minutes I'd steer well clear.

    I agree with Babe too.

    And they say this..

Which is strange as the CompTIA's A+ does not expire!

Also IMHO calling someone an *Engineer* when they are just A+ certified is silly and I am sure it would offend real Engineers.

    Hi

I have also seen that site and wondered the same thing.

I sent an e-mail to them asking if they had any samples of the products, and got a reply saying that they would send me a DVD to preview.

So try the same, I don’t see any reason why they wouldn’t do the same for you.

    David.

Yes, I also contacted them and they offered a DVD.
This was received and I was impressed with the presentation.
Thanks to all for your comments. They were noted, but having viewed the DVD they sent, I ordered the A+ set which arrived today (only ordered yesterday).

This afternoon I watched DVD1 and it appears to be good stuff.
The study guide that came with it, and the Test Simulator is top quality from Sybex. I expect to complete the course within 6-8 weeks and will post again once the course is completed.

    Thanks for feedback.

IT_Junky, Why are you studying the new A+ cert when you have already passed A+?

When CompTia advertised the new syllabus change on their website, they said it was not necessary for existing certified engineers to 're-certify'. They also said, the job market would probably look more favourably on engineers with the latest certification .. which can be obtained through taking one exam only - the elective of your choice (in my case focussing more on security).

So I don't 'have' to recertify. It was a choice I thought sensible when suggested through CompTia last October.

    Actually Yes!

    They are very good.

They have changed their name and it's a shame Boyce is not here to back me up on this one. Because he also did a course with them.

They were originally called C@ts and their website was
    Rapid Results

But the business has split with one part focusing on Councelling skills and keeping rapid results site and the other focusing on IT.

The learning video's are excellent, better than Learn Key.
I must admit their new website looks a bit like a 10 year old school project. But the study materials are excellent. They even have a test siminulator like transcender.

    Yeah, I agree with UCM.
Dave Abel (the instructor) is a very good trainer. I attended his PC build, advanced technician, A+ course and also purchased N+ and 70-270 home study material - all the same, high standard.

I agree with both Boyce and UCheeky Monkey.

Having studied the first 4 DVDs I can state this is the best training on DVD I have ever purchased. Their website does not project the 'right' image. The quality of the videos (on DVD) are superb - with good close ups etc.

The trainer, David Able has taken time to answer my questions personally and very quickly too - all within two hours of sending them.

From what he told me, he retired in 2006 and sold his company CATS and the bloke who bought it ran it into the ground. Apparantly it is no longer trading. He introduced time4training in order that students are able to get their hands on his training material.

Anyway, I am glad I took the chance and ordered the DVDs. Thank you to Ucheekymonkey and Boyce for your replies.

Thanks for the update IT_Junky, some of the students on the old Cats training forum was wondering what was going on with the business. 8)

I spoke to Leon on the phone (the co-founder of cats) who stated that a new website was under construction and the learning material would be put onto DVD. He did not mention anything about a split in the business or a change of direction.:blink
