locked out wireless access point

Hi all

Does anyone know how to gain access to a Spectrum24 4131 Wireless Access Point

it is not accepting the login and password and apparently there is a way of shorting pins inside to cold reset it as it doesnt have a button on the outside

anyone have any knowledge of this access point ?

Hi mojorisin

Looks like you have got a good one here....its a rarity to have a question go unanswered for more than a few hours on CF never mind a day and a half!!

I am working on this one so if you come up with anything let me know....otherwise I will let you know what I have dug up tomorrow (Monday)

Yeah tis indeed. I had one of these in my network at one point...sadly not anymore. On the Symbol site there are 3 linked 'Manuals', however no mention of resetting the device without logging in to the user interface first! Bit difficult if you are locked out

Yeah I got hold of the manual and there's no mention of shorting any pins.

Edit: It looks like you can get to the config menu using a serial connection no password required

I saw that - but it wasn't clear if the reset could be done from there.

Harry.

Look at 5.1.2. of the manual if you have the serial interface enabled you can still get to the admin mode even if you don't have admin privileges.

Hi mojorisin

You were asking at the start of this thread if there was a way to reset your WAP via a pin short. This is the official way:

On the RS232 port connect pins 2 and 3 as shown in the picture and switch the AP on for about 15 seconds. Switch off, disconnect the pins and switch on again. It should boot into factory default inclusive login and password.

(Nothing like a bit of digging!)

Hope this sorts out your problem.

When you say connect these pins i take it you mean short across them with say a screwdriver or such a metal object ?

thanks for finding the info for me much appreciated

I'm impressed at your digging! I searched a bit, and found the manual for the beast, but no hint of this reset proceedure.

Harry.
