Beta Testing for CompTIA Linux+ 2009 Underway – Take the Exam for Free

Beta exam testing is underway for the CompTIA Linux+ exam. We are making an exclusive offer in CompTIA Connect – the first 100 people who contact us with a commitment to take the CompTIA Linux+ beta (XK1-003) by Saturday, July 11, will receive a free voucher.

While exam results will not be available to test takers until launch of the new exam (currently projected for Q4 2009), those who pass will benefit from this new credential at no charge. Objectives for the new exam are available here.

    See here.

I would say study the objectives for the last exam and then search on the web for any newer objectives - that's how I studied for the Server+ 2009 beta (note: haven't actually found out if I passed or not) :)

I would advise to carefully look at how the objectives might have changed if you want to use old test prep material.

So you'll be wanting a copy of that Ubuntu iso I downloaded and put on a netbook last week then. Will you be sneering when you ask for it still? :)

Of course, the certificate is just a piece of paper, it probably costs them more to post than print. The certificate cost is included in the exam cost, since exam is free so is certificate.

The certificate will be a new design since they have rebranded as well so hopefully it will be a nice looking one.

I care more about the certificates than the qualification.

Why? Employers aren't going to care that you got a crisp, new certificate that you can frame... they care only that CompTIA recognizes you as a certified individual.

Don't take any MS exams then, the certs are really poor. I think they spent all the cert money clearing out Bill Gates moat or something. :)

I have to say this is one thing Microsoft have sorted, the old certificates were pretty dull but my newer ones have a nice shinny gold rosette and look far better. Its a small thing but its nice to see a company listen to feedback and take action! :D
