How about this for an off-topic post?

Mine is 'Enjoy The Silence' by Depeche Mode.

Absolute perfection - I have loved it since I first heard it almost twenty years ago. It helps that Violator is probably my favourite album ever, but I can't think of another song that makes me feel the way this does.

It had a wicked video as well - ridiculously simple, but so effective.

And if I could sing - I'd want a voice like Dave Gahan's.

I'll throw in She's leaving home by The Beatles.

Fantastic touching lyrics, beautiful counter melodies, strings, ah sheer perfection 8)

That's like asking me what my favorite movie is. I can't really decide. It depends on my mood. I'd have to figure out what makes a song or movie a "favorite" anyway? Is it one you can listen to or watch over and over again? There are lots of songs and movies I like and some more than others but I don't know how to pick just one out and say it's "the best".

Impossible question for me to answer:D

Been collecting music for over 16 years, just too much to chose from.

Fave DM song however, I must agree Enjoy the Silence is up there with the best of DMs work. I listened to a lot DM when I was growing up.

I remember the video, its Dave Gahan walking around the countryside dressed as a king. The violator album is a corker apart from 'blue dress' which for some reason always got on my nerves. I still have Violator (on vinyl) somewhere i think it was the last DM album I bought they have gone off the boil in recent years I think.

top five DM songs (in no particular order, yes a cop out)

    Everything Counts
    Policy of Truth
    Never Let Me Down Again
    Enjoy The Silence

I think this poll needs to be thought out in more detail, no offence meant there Zeb

I think there needs to be categories and then people could vote, but it needs to incorporate all tastes and varietys so that when the votes have been done no one can say , well i though such a song should of been included.

Zeb if you take this up or if anyone else decides to then let me know as ill help if i can

I have a somewhat strange love for music. On one side I am a classic freak, so Bach's organworks is surely on the list but also Edvard Grieg with the Peer Gynt Suite. Mozart's Requiem and Mussorgky (Pictures of an exibition, Night at bold mountain) and not to forget Chopin.

On the other side I just love percussion music, so that would be Japanese drums (Ichiban Daiko), African drums (Masterdrummers of Burundi) but also Les Tambours du Bronx, a French group who uses oildrums, STOMP and so on.

I'm also very fond of Frank Zappa.

Whoops - I should have known this would be practically impossible for most people! If truth be told, there are thousands of songs that have been 'my favourite' at one point or other, but I don't know of a song that has 'stayed with me' as much as Enjoy The Silence has over the years. I guess the following are all songs which, if I were anal enough to make a laminated list, would make it on there:

    Hyperballad (Bjork)
Something I Can Never Have (Nine Inch Nails)
    Last Goodbye (Jeff Buckley)
    Street Spirit (Radiohead)
    Sharpen Up The Knives (Puressence)
    Mayonaie (Smashing Pumpkins)
    A Deisgn For Life (Manics)
    Be Quiet And Drive (Deftones)
I Can Only Disappoint You (Mansun)
    Everlong (Foo Fighters)
    How Soon is Now (Smiths)
    Whitewater (Kyuss)
Sometimes It Snows In April (Prince)
    Black (Pearl Jam)
    Sober (Tool)
    This Woman's Work (Kate Bush)
Shine On You Crazy Diamond - Part 1 & 2 (Pink Floyd)
To Live Is To Die (Metallica)

There's hundreds more - but they immediately spring to mind

I like to think I have quite a diverse taste in music, though I draw the line at any form of bubblegum pop. Whilst I can just about bear listening to the radio, I'm not a massive fan of any "popular" artists. That would be too easy

The music I listen to also varies depending on what I'm doing. So the list below incorporates what I'd listen to when studying, commuting (angry driving), normal driving, chilling out, or simply trying to do Martin's nut in.

Sigur Rós - Starálfur; Ágætis byrjun (which I believe was on the Vanilla Sky soundtrack)
Rammstein - Ohne Dich; Hilf Mir; Spring
APC - The Noose; Blue; Passive; Counting Bodies (like sheep to the rhythym of the war drums); Magdalena; When the Levee Breaks
Fightstar - Unfamiliar Ceilings; Tannhauser Gate; Floods
    Bowie - The Jean Genie
    Inme - Neptune
    Tubular Bells
Snow Patrol - Set Fire to the Third Bar
Tool - Lateralus; Parabol/Parabola (have to listen to those two together)
    Slipknot - Vermillion (pts 1 and 2)
Coheed and Cambria - generally anything
    Massive Attack - Karmacoma
Radiohead - Creep (or the 'chav' version of 'Creep' - "the Reason" by Hoobastank)
Disturbed - Numb; Inside the Fire; Overburdened
Adagio for Strings (the Platoon version of it makes me goosebumpy)

... to name a few that find their way to my iPod more often than the rest recently.

If anyone says Daphne & Celest then they should be banned immediately :)

I have a very varied taste in Music, so I'll just say most of it, I don't like country music though apart from East/West bound and down (smoky & the bandit theme tune).

I was quite privileged to be at the Milton Keynes Bowl, the year they infamously appeared.

Apparently, they had been "telling everyone" they had been put on the bill when they hadn't. So to get them back, the show organisers actually did put them on the bill. On a day when I also saw Queens of the Stone Age, Rage Against the Machine and Marilyn Manson (the year he moonied on stage and walked off in the middle of his set) to name a few. The headliners were Metallica. The Memory Remains live is awesome.

Needless to say, Daphne and Celeste were pelted off stage with bottles full of... you get the idea. They were shouting towards the end "you won't get rid of us". Thankfully, they were wrong :)
