Done 291, sweet release...

Well after four long months of study I've finally put 291 to rest and what a beast it was.

46 questions (inc 3 sims)

Sims were RRAS, ADUC (!) and DNS (to be expected)

Took 2 hours reading and re-reading the questions, some of which were a real pain in the a$$ (one or two could be solved in a couple of ways i'm sure) . LOTS of WSUS (20-30%), plenty of DNS (40% zone rules), few IPSEC and GPO. Supprisingly few CIDR and subnetting.

Seemed like the focus of the exam was keep your clients/servers patched. Make sure you can resolve client names through DNS and why isn't this DNS/DHCP scenario working.

Completed in 2 hours or so, and am walking away from it absoutely shattered. I need rest/ sleep.

Tips, -

common sense - Learn DNS zones inside out, Learn about DHCP scopes and what certain ip addresses may imply. Read & re-read the questions there's a LOT of information to take in, and not all of it is relavant anymore! Check and re-check your sims, one of them had everything biased against me (or so I think!)

un-common sense- Learn WSUS (no longer SUS guys, it's changed since I did 290 four months back).

p.ps, you can use rude works as passwords in ADUC, as long as they adhere to complexity requirements
