    Michael Meyers' book has a table of a sample of address ranges. Do I need to know:

    A. The ones in the list in page 214
    B. More than that
    C. Just the COM/LPT addresses
    D. No I/O addresses

    Cheers :)

    I've never seen anything other than the LPT and COM port addresses asked for in either the exams or the many different practice exams I've taken.

    Which is not to say that you *won't* be asked about other things, but I suspect that things like EGA addresses are going to be extremely unlikely!

    Learn the COMs 1-4 and LPT's for sure,they're going to be lurking somewhere in your exam,you can count on that one!

    Here's a snippit from a previous thread that I used to help another member in remembering all the I/O details...

    PORT..... IRQ.. ADDRESS
    COM1.... 4..... 3F8h
    COM2.... 3..... 2F8h
    COM3.... 4..... 3E8h
    COM4 ... 3..... 2E8h
    LPT1..... 7..... 378h
    LPT2..... 5..... 278h

    look at the patterns of the IRQ and ADDRESSES!!!

    IRQ = 4 3 4 3 7 5 memorise this

    4 3 4 3 7 5
    4 3 4 3 7 5
    4 3 4 3 7 5.....

    ADDRESSES = 3 2 3 2 3 2 memorise this!!

    3 2 3 2 3 2

    and the rest?? = F F E E 378 278 memorise this!!

    F F E E 378 278
    F F E E 378 278
    F F E E 378 278

    you get the drift...try it a few times and it'll start to stick.
