What other exams cover S+ material?

Server+ seems quite a good exam it covers a lot of basics such as hardware, backups, troubleshooting and loads more, are there any say mcitp exams that will cover these thing also, to save having to do too many exams, or is there a more advanced exam than S+?

Also what material is there for s+ 2009?

While there are some MS exams that cover partial of what the Server+ requires, MS exams do not cover everything. This is mainly because the Server+ also covers hardware, which MS exams really do not.

The Server+ is an extension of the A+ and the Network+, so doing/knowing those two will help. Experience with working with server hardware will also help alot.

I took the 2009 beta Server+ exam and passed, I used the material for the 2005 version, plus experience and my MS knowledge. So it all helped

The only 2009 material I know off is from Preplogic, I haven't used it so I don't know how good it is.

EDIT: Yes there are more advanced certs out there for Servers, however this is where you start to go down the route of specialising, eg MCSA/MCSE, RHCE, ACSA, etc... Remember the Server+ is non-vendor specific and is general.

tks. Yes your right, s+ is quite unique but it is geared toward a server tech rather a server admin i think which is is quite good for me, i can't see any other exams that include what the s+ does.

I notice on that preplogic site you gave that they have the s+ course as sk0-003 whereas on the comptia site they have sk0-002 which i think is the old version, like 2002 or something, and also have JK0-009 (E2C Exam) which i assumed was the 2009 exam, maybe not, so what is sk0-003 is that a typo?

No, the SK0-002 is the 2005 version of the exam, the SK0-003 is the 2009 version of the exam, and the JK0-009 is the same exam as the SK0-002, but for the people who take a course from a Comptia Academy (it has to do with pricing and stats, otherwise not difference in content).

Just got this email from the comptia guys. Might be of interest.

A new release of Server+ is due out in February, 2010-we do not have a launch date-check the Server+ homepage regularly for announcements. Training materials are normally available shortly after release of the new objectives and corresponding exam. CompTIA historically overlaps their exams to allow candidates preparing for the retiring version time to complete their studies and take their exams. Please check with the website regularly for updated information. There will not be a bridge exam for the Server+
