Creating a knockout Online Portfolio with Photoshop
Quote:
Photoshop makes it very easy to build an online portfolio. I will show you how in just a few steps and we can do it all from the File Browser in Photoshop CS or Bridge in CS2. This Article was published in Imaging Design Magazine.
That's all good and all, but do you think it allows beginners to create outstanding visual pieces of work without truly understanding concepts behind the basics? Thus leading employeers into a false sense of what the user can produce and the knowledge they hold?
Does the above automate most design tasks?
Primary Goal: XHTML, CSS, Javascript, Using Photoshop.Using Dreamweaver.
Secondary Goal: CIW foundation course exam 1D0-510

I don't really think it's aimed at people who want to be web designers, beginners or otherwise. I played about with an earlier version just to see what it did. I imagine it's aimed at other types of visual artists who want to digitise and display their own work without having to learn web design. I can see it being a useful tool for someone who wants to spend their time doing the thing they're good at, rather than having to learn a new skill to show it off. It's that type of portfolio it's designed for, ITH, not a web design portfolio, so I can't see that a potential employer should have any issue with it. I can't see a web design professional using it though. I did use a tool (JAlbum) to automate the building of parts of my photography site, but I hand customised the templates to conform to my own design. It's much more flexible than the version of Photoshop I tried creating galleries with. If you think you'll have a need for this type of software, Mitz, check out JAlbum (it's free).

Photoshop Cafe is dedicated to everything for Photoshop, and now Light Room which goes hand in hand with Photoshop. It is up to each individual to decide their own skill level. In addition, it is their responsibility how they represent themselves to future employers not mine.
You will find that I post information that I think others may find interesting or beneficial in all skill levels. Not just beginners level and the subjects are anything that has to do with tech. Now that I am part of the adobe family my findings will lean more in that direction. I am sorry if you did not find the post helpful.

Thanks TCM! I see you have already learned that the way to my heart is to give me links. I have saved this fav but photoshop came with my adobe suite and I am trying to learn that now. So I know you will understand if I DONT want to learn another software at the moment. But you never know, I may have a need for it down the road or someone else might.
