ok, first off I am just gonna start calling you tcm. By the time I type your tag I am worn out.

I don't know how advanced you are in dreamweaver but I found some nice tutorials so I am just passing them on.

LOL. When I see that handle I always read it "the cat smother" not "the cats mother".....

I had to look two or three times to get it right the first time I saw it, and my first impression has just stuck with me.

I'm using Dreamweaver MX 2004 just now, but should be upgrading shortly as the software is part of Skillstrain package for CIW. I have a number of tutorials bookmarked for then, and those will fill in some gaps too.

There's always something new to learn, eh?

No worries about the tcm abbreviation. I get that a lot. (And the cat smother, Ffreeloader ;)). The other name I use on forums, also reduced to initials by other users, has become my business name as I'm so used to answering to it.

oh let me know when they get you upgraded. There is so much more that CS3 can do from my understanding then the previous version. I can't wait for you to be able to dive in. It is very exciting the new stuff I learn everyday. I was blown away by how easy it was to build a spry menu.

Personally i do everything in notepad. I find i learn alot more that way...DWCS3 is great and i have it installed...just i dont really want to rely on it to fill in missed tags etc for me..but hey, thats just me

I use to feel the same way 8 yrs ago when it was just html I dealt with. I am already in my 8th chapter of Dreamweaver and I know exactly what dreamweaver is doing thanks to going though my css missing manual first. So if there is something I wish to minuplate later on I will be able to so very easy from within Dreamweaver. I have also seen how much time dreamweaver will save me. Can build a spry navagation bar in what a min? Can add to it or delete from it in seconds. Note Pad has it uses. But I will stick with my dreamweaver and web premium creative suite and double my production. Not to mention how much fun I am actually having using it.

Which reminds me I need to order my java script book.

The guy I'm working for used to use something called Hot Metal to do his web page building with. That thing added so much code of its own that most of what he built back then just won't work with new MS browsers or with Firefox or Safari. It's a major pain to maintain/edit/change all those old pages now. It takes two to three times as much time now to work with them because of the proprietary crap that was inserted.

Just coding and leaving all the proprietary junk out is the most efficient thing to do in the long run. Being fast the first time through isn't always the most efficient thing to do in the long run....

Freddy, dreamweaver is not like front page where it chews the code up and spits out only what it can understand. Each edition of dreamweaver is made to keep up with changing technologies. It can even help you take old websites and bring them up todate. I've not had a chance to do this but I look forward to seeing how it is done. Alot of hand coders use dreamweaver. And they have made dreamweaver so it is nondesctructive with that code. It will not change your code unless you tell it to. I am sitting here looking at my code in a site I just built and I can honestly say I do not see where dreamweaver has added anything I don't reconginse. The code is the same as I would have typed it out myself. Expect for the JS. That I do not know yet but html and css is the same. I know dreamweaver isn't prefect. However, I just have not found any reason NOT to use it so far. It produces the code as I would expect it doesn't have typos. A very big plus in my book. I am sure as I get deeper into it something is bound to happen to somewhere. However, the way things are going now. I am thinking it will be something on my end and not dreamweavers.

I learned my HTML in Notepad, too. And I already have a rudimentary knowledge of CSS. Dreamweaver just makes it a bit faster, and helps me to think visually. On the very rare occasions I get unexpected results from DW, I can pop into the code screen and tidy up what went wrong. Frontpage, on the other hand, I wouldn't touch with a barge pole. I know folk who make a good living doing everything in Frontpage, though. I think learning what's going on under the hood is a good idea, so you're probably best sticking to your current strategy, ITHurts.

No harm, no foul, TCM. I'd just as soon give it away. I was once employed by a company with the initial T, abbreviated by some people as TC. Thus, I was TM or TCM, depending on who you asked. I then became BrainBeaconMichael (BBM), then BosonMichael (BM - which I'm sure is still the source of much private hilarity).
