TS 70-649, my story so far...

Hi Guys,

Well sat the MCSE 2k3 upgrade exam: 70-649, here's my breakdown (without breaking the NDA)

My exam had 49 questions, broken down into 3 parts.

Score:
70-642: TS: Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure, Configuring: 737 (Passed)
70-643: TS: Windows Server 2008 Application Infrastructure, Configuring 760 (Passed)
70-640: TS: Windows Server 2008 Active Directory, Configuring 350 (failed)

Overall exam score: 350 - Failed

While I didn't really feel as the first 2 parts were harder than any other MS exam (as I've been using it at both work and in my practice labs) the 70-640 was alot harder for me as I really only skimmed that subject and haven't really played around with 2008 specific improvements/changes, D'oh.

Anyway, that wasn't the worse part... Prometric was Exam booked for 12:00hrs, exam took 14:00hrs - there was a problem with downloading my exam and it took Prometric office approx 2 hours to sort it out. The testing centre was nice and apologetic, but I've never had this problem with Vue.

So my experience with Prometric so far:
1. Can't use my exam voucher & second shot at the same time and
2. Exams don't work properly

Wow, sorry to hear that Ken.. i know the upgrade exams are not at all easy. i'm sure you crack it on your next attempt and i hope you have better luck at the testing centre. the last thing you need is hassle and stress, when you are sitting a tough exam

Unlucky mate, I was wondering how you got on with this exam as I plan to upgrade my MCSE (whenever I finally pass the 70-297!) to Server 2008 as soon as possible. When I looked on the MS site I thought the 70-649 looked like a tough exam.

Hope all goes well next time.

Me: You need to buy a couple of servers.
Customer: Whats wrong with the servers I have?
Me: Well, you dont have *any* servers just now.
Customer: WTF! I thought I did!

I know you'll knock it dead on your next attempt (provided you give Prometric another chance!).

Are your exam was supposed to 12 hours long or you were supposed to start at 12PM and you ended up starting at 2PM?

Bad luck Ken.

So, does it actually show you that you would have passed the 642 and 643 then?

No; it would show that he passed 70-649... which fulfills objectives otherwise covered by the 70-640, 70-642, and 70-643 exams.

Ah... OK. I just wondered due to Ken showing his scores on the various elements...
