How are you plugging the printer into the router? RJ45?

It is possible to get a wireless jetdirect box if needed....

Me: You need to buy a couple of servers.
Customer: Whats wrong with the servers I have?
Me: Well, you dont have *any* servers just now.
Customer: WTF! I thought I did!

Yes - if that router has a printer server.

You can even get inkjet printers with wireless card in them (like the HP Deskjet 5850). These printers can work in infrastructure mode (eg with a print server) or ad hoc mode (eg peer to peer).

Being pedantic, if it is *wireless*, you can't physically plug 'anything' into it

Okay, humour aside, if it also has a built in switch with RJ45 ports then it is possible if the printer has a NIC (network interface card). Otherwise as has been said, the router needs to also be a print server, like a jet direct box which is an HP version of one.

You could also use a wired-to-wireless bridge like the Linksys WET54G.

Thanks for the replies

Sorry folks for not giving enough info first time around.

He's just got a Linksys WRT5AG router. I thought there might have been some sort of adapter that he could plug in one of the ports.

Oh well never mind.
cheers

Wireless Print servers work fine, they are bit expensive though!
