Main Goal:
To finish CCNA at college then do the Certs for it
Secondary:
To continue learning about oracle as i manage a 9i database and it is hard when you don't know.
and lastly to start learning more about ,Linux as we use nagios and squid and i don't know enough about it.
But most is to keep enjoying my job and gain loads of experience so the next move up the ladder is nice and big...

Well I had my six month appraisal at my place on tuesday and I think my goals have been set for me. It's going to be a busy one!

Apple Training - March (Possible ACHDS exam to go with it)
VMWare Training - April (Possible VCP exam to go with it)
Cisco Wireless Training - May
CCENT - At some point this year
ITIL - In either April or June (I'd prefer june!)
Free MS Exam voucher - Needs using by April 30th so I'll prob have to study up for 70-270 before then (Its the only exam that I think I stand a chance of passing in the time frame, and it means that I'll be certified in every client exam since Windows 98!).

After all of that my boss said that I should maybe look into doing a certificate of management later on in the year!

Plus I've got three weddings to attend, a stag doo and a speach to write!

Busy? Its better than being bored!

Just use the same one at each wedding, nobody will notice!

Me: You need to buy a couple of servers.
Customer: Whats wrong with the servers I have?
Me: Well, you dont have *any* servers just now.
Customer: WTF! I thought I did!

Yep, just copy and paste something along the lines of this and you won't go wrong!

Hello everyone! Thanks for coming to this wedding roast.

Congratulations to INSERTNAMEOFBLOKEHERE and INSERTNAMEOFWOMANHERE.

#use this section to make a short yet witty joke about INSERTNAMEOFBLOKEHERE and a brief reference to something embarrassing about his past.

Thanks for coming. Bye!

There, now you have more time for your studying!

Goals in 2k8, wow good question. I don't even know where to start, there are so many things that I would like to accomplish that I don't even know if everything will get done. Alright lets see what the list has to offer this year:

Certifications:

290 - I've been procrastinating this for a few months now, it's time to get it over with.

291 - I'll hold of on that for now, I need some more experience, but experience is what I am hoping to get this year. Once I pass that exam I'll be an MCSA. Then I'll take a little break before getting any other certs till I get some good experience.

School:

Continue studying towards a Bachelors degree in business. My ultimate goal is to make my career business and IT combined. This of course is more a long term goal since I've just started.

My best memories go out to nights that turned into mornings and the friends that turned into family.

Bah i missed this, and i love filling these in, oh well here goes lol

What i had planned for 2008 were:

Driving licence, new gf either MCSE or MCSA with CCNA, get out of debt, improve my health.

So far

Driving is on hold until i save up, want to do intensive course to pass this asap, i did have a few lessons a few years ago, so am hoping i pick it up quickly.

New GF? not yet, dumped the old one saturday, which has been a relief, so far ive enjoyed my "freedom" too much with way too much drink and no study, this will change as i miss the study lol.

MCSE, could achieve possibly, but im wanting to do either the exchange or AD certs, but this is once the CCNA is done, am just waiting for payday to order a CCNA kit off the web, am reading the books though, most of the theory is in place, just need to memorise commands and get my troubleshooting as good as possible, doing the CCENT exam then CCNA exam (as i seem to like collecting certificates now lol).

Get out of debt, paid of 5.5k of loan last payday, a bit skint now, but all thats left is an interest free graduate account (2K) which i have to pay 500 in before the end of the year.

My health is improving, my sleep patterns where the main problem, and this has improved in recent months, 6.30am starts every work day arent fun, but its a routine.

So yeah, i suppose im on course for achieving most things.

Ouch, six months in and I have done bugger all! although the pack up and move to the states has monopolized this half of the year!

So for me, its going to be an interesting year, a lot of my official goals for 2k7 did not happen, or at least not to fruition, that said most of them are well on the way and plenty of other things were accomplished

so.. 2k8

Short Term Goals (In progress, early 2k
Pass my driving test (Lessons have been going on for a while now, test is hopefully early next year)
Finish MCSE 2k3 (yeah last years goal i know, I have 2 exams left, watch this space!)
Well gave up learning to drive in the UK a few months back, will have to learn the first four weeks I am stateside and its cheap as chips, so learning there (should have it sorted by end of July

1 left on MCSE route, I really progressed eh? lol

Move to the US confirmed and taking place this month, slows down a lot of the rest of the goals as my life has pretty much been on hold while I work on it :/

Side business is still flatlined

Professional network has grown a little, but not substantially

No programming power yet :/

It's important to set your self not only goals but some attainable time frames to do them as well, and I feel a year is often too long of a window, so by shortening some of those goals to '1Q' I box myself in a bit more and force action sooner rather than later

What are your goals for 2k8? and how did your 2k7 goals turn out (if not already posted in the 2k7 thread)
Well the 1Q bit really didnt work as planned, work was messy, finally left that place, visa progress was slow but complex, thats out the way now, MCSE should be done by the time I leave (or atleast attempted that last exam)

I'll keep u posted
a few changes were added since the beginning of the year too, trying very hard to lose 40KG as soon as possible, that will still put me over 100kg but much smaller and from there I will adjust from pure weight loss to weight loss / fitness

Change jobs, either a server support role, or maybe something along the lines of system management.
Decide whether I want/am able to stick with my current company or whether I'll need to move on to progress.
In the process of doing that now. Applied for a system admin role but failed and just found out the two vacancies has now been changed to just one.
Just applied for another role, nice step up - here's hoping!

Personal Goals
Get fitter and lighter - use to run quite a bit but I've made a push for the last cert and have dedicated much time to it.

Practice my photography more - my dSLR has been sat idle for the past month or 2, I want to start exploring that more.
Keep in contact with my friends better - been really poor on that recently also!
Make a serious attempt to become a trustee board member for a local charity.
Getting lighter - more to watching what I'm eating than increasing exercise!
Photography - nailed another 3/4000 shots, some nice ones too
Friends - slow start but progressing.
Trustee - gimme time to sleep!!
Quote:
Crazy Goals - 2008 onwards
Look at getting ITIL qualified
ITIL - hopefully within the next couple of weeks - yay!

It's the journey that matters, not the destination.

Aims:
70-271: Dec 2007 PASSED!
70-272: March 2008 PASSED!
ITIL v3 Foundation: June 2008
Net+: July 2008
70-270: Nov 2008
