MCAS - Outlook 2007 - when is it available to take in the UK?

I have been training myself up in Office 2007, especially Outlook 2007. Having written Config and install documentation for a previous version as part of a previous role at work, I anticipate having a part to play in reviewing the 2007 version config and install document.

As a consequence, and to add a bit of motivation to myself, I would like to take the MCAS for Outlook 2007 to begin with. I then intend to follow this over time with Word, Excel, Visio and so forth.

The Microsoft site says I can register for the Outlook exam; however, when I go onto the link for the Prometric site, I cannot find it in the drop-down list.

Any ideas?

MCAS, MCAP (when they get released), MOS/MOUS, ACA & IC3 exam can only be taken at Certiport Testing centres and not Prometric or Vue.

There are only a few certiport testing centres around, and the only one I know is Tresham (in Northamptonshire). If Tresham is the closest one to you, pm me and I can give you the details of my mate who runs the testing centre.

Hope this helps

Thanks Ken. Your reply leads me to think the exams aren't out yet... any idea when they're available? And yes, it looks like Northants is nearest to me.

Cool

All the MCAS exams for Office 2007 (and Vista) are out and available.

If you have trouble finding a test centre near you, just give Certiport a call on 0203 170 6125.

No, the MCAS exams are now available, it's the MCAP range that aren't.

Update: Took pre-test today..

I purchased a pre-test voucher from Gracetech the other day, and decided to use it on the Certiport site to 'sit' an unproctored Outlook 2007 exam.

I just wanted to see what the real thing would be like... I have never ever taken any MS exam before...

Surprisingly, it was very interesting. I had done no studying and, although I use Outlook 2007, I do not use it in work and certainly not to anywhere near the level at home that I could do.

I had 66 questions that I had to answer in 180 minutes.

The result was a 667/1000 which, although not a pass, tells me that with proper study I should be able to do well.

I believe that the likes of the MCAS or MOS exams should be something that, at the very least, first line support staff look at. I would call it another string to your bow...

I'm glad you thought the pre-test was useful. However, it's worth knowing that the pre-test is just a multiple choice style exam, whereas the real MCAS tests are task based questions using the real Office application, in your case Outlook 2007.

Certiport were running a free MCAS exam retake offer, but that has just ended. Keep an eye on the Certiport UK site for more offers.

Thanks for the info... much appreciated.

It seems a bit daft that the pre-test is nothing like the real exam. It sounds just like the ITIL exam I took a couple of months back, where the pre-tests were nothing like the real thing.
