How to set up a new vmware host machine?

OK, I want to setup vmware for the masterclass lessons. The question is if I have a 120GB HD, do I format the whole disk as one partition, install the host OS and then vmware, or create a partition eg 5GB, and do the aforementioned??

Re: How to set up a new vmware host machine?

you will want to format the whole drive mate
we will be using standard vmware configs meaning the 'guest os disk' will be a file on your host os file system

there are more advanced options like using dedicated partitions for vmware and such, but thats beyond the scope of this tutorial (i always wanted to say that)

Re: How to set up a new vmware host machine?

This vmware stuff is all new to me so I thought I'd ask first. Thanks Phoenix.

RAM is king in VMWare. Make sure you have plenty on board.
