Wow that actually would solve some of the problems i have at work with the training lan .
Is there any special setup you need? like a domain, or does it work on a lan?

Nope it simply requires the computers to be networked. Nothing special. You simply have to install the program on all the machines you wish to control, then specify which is the computer that you wish to control from and the orientation of the computers that are around it (i.e which side they are on). Then once it is all configured you simply move the mouse to the left or the right side of the screen to control the computer that is on that side. For example, if you were on the far left and you wanted to control the computer that is two to your right then you would simply scroll to the right until you were at the one you wanted. It's brilliant.

First thing i usually do is: Make it look like the old windows.

Install graphics drivers (usually download all drivers and up-to-date software and whack on to a dvd before a reformat)

Install latest direct-X runtimes: website

Then i put on the anti-virus/firewall currently using Trend micro PC-Cillan, but might go with Avast or AVG next time.

other securty software:

http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/ - Spywareblaster, once installed and protection enabled, usually just have to periodically update and enable new protection for unprotected items.

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/spybotsd/index.html - spybot Search and destroy, Has a large library of bad websites that it can block, you can select if you want it to warn you about it or block the pages silently. Also checks for spyware and can remove them.

http://www.ccleaner.com/ - Crap Cleaner, a tool that wipes temporary files and all sorts of other stuff from your computer, careful how you set it up.

http://www.macecraft.com/ - RegSupreme, a registry cleaning tool

http://www.grisoft.com/doc/download-...otkit/us/crp/5 - an anti-rootkit tool

http://www.lavasoft.de/ - Lavasoft Adaware, another checker for adware.

other applications:

ACDSee image viewer
Paint Shop Pro
http://www.codecguide.com/ - K-Lite Codec pack
DVD Shrink
www.doom9.net - pretty useful site, good for codecs and where i usually grab Gordian knot.
Nero

I used to use DB Poweramp's release 9 to rip my cd's but lately i was invited to oink.cd and there is a link to a guide there somewhere for ripping CD's accurately which recommends Exact Audio Copy: Guide

Browsers: Firefox and Seamonkey

MSN Messenger + messpatch
Teamspeak
World of Warcraft
