Hi all, I'm receiving two event log entries, a warning and an error.

This is on a secondary windows 2000 server and is the only backup browser that is receiving these errors. The error code in the data is 0000:0000000040 (which means ERROR_NETNAME_DELETED). but i have no idea what that means.

Event Type: Error
Event Source: BROWSER
Event Category: None
Event ID: 8032

Description:
The browser service has failed to retrieve the backup list too many times on transport \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{nic info blah bla h}. The backup browser is stopping.
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: BROWSER
Event Category: None
Event ID: 8032
Description:
The browser was unable to retrieve a list of servers from the browser master \\Net-server1\Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{nic info blah bla h}. The data is the error code.

Nothing at eventID.net (http://www.eventid.net/display.asp?eventid=8021&eventno=117&source=BROWSER&phase=1) has helped me so far, any help would be great.

A quick glance thru technet suggests possible driver issues or, if a multihomed server, having the cards pointing at the same subnet or with wrong subnets defined.

KB135404 may help. Or it might not.http://www.certforums.co.uk/images/smiles/dry.gif

The server is not multihomed but I did find a solution to my problem. The error was due to an old WINS entry on the complaining server.

Sorted it now :biggrin
